On October 20 , 2002 , Essex County Executive James W. Treffinger along with a slew of local residents and dignitaries dedicated a section of the reservation--which overlooks the Manhattan skyline--to a memorial built in honor of those killed during the September 11 Attack . The names of every local Essex County resident who was killed at the World Trade Center or on the two planes that crashed into the twin towers are permanently inscribed in a marble memorial. |
