"Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" was the first big hit single to taken from Michael Jackson 's 1979 '' Off The Wall '' album, which was his first album with Epic Records and the first he had real control over.

The song was written and composed by Michael Jackson in late 1978 and produced by Quincy Jones . It is notable for introducing what would later become a Jackson hallmark, his falsetto voice.

On February 20, 2006, "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" was re-released as a single as part of the Visionary - The video singles, peaking at #17 in the UK.


CHART PERFORMANCE

"Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" was a successful restart to Michael Jackson's career as it went to the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for one week on October 13, 1979. By far the most successful single from ''Off The Wall'', the track was very popular in other countries, reaching #1 in Australia and Norway, #2 in both Denmark and Belgium, a Top 20 hit in most European countries, and a Top 10 smash in France, where it reached #7.

The track also earned Michael his first solo Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance. It also reached #1 on the R&B chart (for 5 weeks). It sold over a million copies gaining a Platinum sales award (his first platinum single since ''Ben'' 8 years earlier) and remained in the top 100 for a highly respectable 21 weeks. In the UK, it was also a big hit reaching #3 and remaining in the charts for 12 weeks.


MUSIC VIDEO


The video made for "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" was directed and produced by Nick Saxton . Its world première took place in October 1979. It features Jackson floating over a background of disco lights dancing and smiling while lip-synching to the song in a tux. The track used for the video was the same edit used for the single, but including the spoken intro. Its length is 4:11.
