David Bruce Haight ( September 9 , 1906 – July 31 , 2004 ) was the oldest Apostle in the history of the Quorum Of The Twelve Apostles of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints , to which he was ordained in January 8 , 1976 . David B. Haight was born in Oakley, Idaho , September 9 , 1906 . He is the father in-law of billionaire business man and philanthropist Jon Huntsman and grandfather of current Governor Of Utah Jon Huntsman, Jr. . He served as Mayor of Palo Alto, California and also was the owner of the Palo Alto Hardware store. He was president of the Palo Alto Stake, and president of the Church's mission in Scotland before becoming a General Authority in 1970 . At the passing of Elder Hugh B. Brown in December of 1975 , the vacancy was filled by the calling of David B. Haight, set apart on January 8 , 1976 . He died in the morning of July 31 , 2004 , after having attended the funeral of his colleague Neal A. Maxwell the previous Tuesday. David A.
