Crossford is a small village in west Fife , Scotland (population in 1991 was 2830). It is situated one mile west of Dunfermline , east of Cairneyhill , astride the A994 (Main Street), at . It is just over twelve miles from Edinburgh . The village has mixed housing with a large housing estate on the southwest end (referred to locally as the ' Wimpey Estate'). Most residents work either locally or commute to Edinburgh or Glasgow . The Dunfermline Golf Club has an 18-hole golf course to the southeast of Crossford. The Halkett family owned the Pitfirrane Estate until 1951, and their mansion has become the clubhouse. The Keavil House Hotel in west Crossford has 47 rooms and is set in 12 acres of grounds. Its meeting facilities, restaurant and health club are an amenity for the village and surrounding area. Other local businesses and services include the local Post Office , Crossford Motor Company (for used cars), the Jade chinese takeaway restaurant (formerly 'the Great Wall'), the Pitfirrane Arms hotel, a hairdresser (Scissors), primary school, village hall, Scout hall (with Scouts and Girl Guides held weekly), and a small supermarket (David Sands).
