They work to protect Canadian independence by promoting Progressive policies on Fair Trade , clean Water , safe Food , Public Healthcare , and other issues of social and economic concern to Canadians.

The Chair is Maude Barlow .
The executive director is John Urquhart .

The Council publishes a seasonal magazine called ''Canadian Perspectives''.
