For the 1999 school shooting, see Columbine High School Massacre The Columbine mine massacre was a confrontation between police and striking coal miners on November 21 , 1927 . A Strike was called by the Industrial Workers Of The World at the Columbine Mine in Serene, Colorado , a Company Town . According to those present at the strike, members of the Colorado State Police , armed with Pistol s, Rifle s, Riot Gun s, and Tear Gas grenades, clashed with strikers; several strikers were shot and died.
