Information AboutCherskiy Range |
|
The Chersky range is located near the Verkhoyansk Range and the Indigirka River Basin . The range is named after Ivan Dementievich Chersky , a Russia n soldier, geographer and geologist who studied Siberia in the 19th Century after being exiled there for revolutionary activities. The Chersky range sits atop a Fault Line separating the Eurasian and North American Tectonic Plates . The Chersky mountains, along with the neighboring Verkhoyansk, have a moderate effect on the climate of Siberia. The ridges obstruct west-moving air flows, decreasing the amount of Snow Storage in the plains to the west. References
