Cap-Vert was inhabited historically by the Lebou people, a fishing community that still lives on the north coast, at Yoff , near the modern Dakar airport. The name of the Republic of Cape Verde comes from ''Cabo Verde'' which in French is ''Cap-Vert''. The cape and the country were named by the Portuguese as ''Cabo verde''. External links |
