Since 811 has now been assigned in the U.S. to contact underground utility location services prior to digging, all calls to the Telephone Company (wired or wireless) will now go through 611, not just Repair calls. This transition will be completed by early 2007 . The 611 number is not officially assigned by the FCC or the CRTC , however both have chosen not to disturb the assignment either, as it is generally recognized across the North American Numbering Plan (NANP). |
