Vozdovac Municipality




Voždovac (, Serbia And Montenegro . It has 161,000 residents and spreads over 15,000 Hectares of area.

Its name is derived from ''Vožd'', a title meaning ''leader'', that was given to Karađorđe Petrović , the leader of the First Serbian Uprising . He also commanded the liberation of Belgrade from the Turks in 1806, and on the very spot from where he started that operation today stands a Voždovac Church.

Within the area of Voždovac stands a mountain Avala with its 511 meters hight. There is a football club from the area called " FC Voždovac " that is competing in First League Of Serbia And Montenegro within wich he finished the season 2005/06 at the 3rd place.
