Mehta was born in what is now Pakistan . His family fled to India when he was three. He attended Lucknow University. He has published over 5 books in an editorial career spanning over 25 years. One of the most independent editors, he was always seen as sympathetic to the left of centre forces in the country. He proudly calls himself a 'Pseudo secularist' , a tag given by the BJP government when in power. He also writes a column occasionally for the , its taxis, newspapers, restaurants, prostitutes, party folk and pictures, which he self-published, earned him solid reputation. Thereafter, he published a critical biography of Sanjay Gandhi , called "The Sanjay Story." He now lives in New Delhi with his wife and dog, Editor. |
