Victory Records is a Chicago -based Independent Record Label founded by Tony Brummel , claiming to be at War with Corporate America and its Record Label s. Ironically, Victory Records is actually a privately-held Corporation with several imprint labels. Victory is known to have a strong stance against Apple 's ITunes . Founder Tony Brummel has made his feelings about iTunes vocal, and has accused Apple of being anti-indie record label. This too is ironic as Victory makes money from its imprint labels' sales on iTunes. Victory has had multiple records exceeding the 200,000 sales mark including three Gold Certified Records , "The Silence in Black and White" by Hawthorne Heights , and "Tell All Your Friends" and "Where You Want To Be" by Taking Back Sunday . with "The Silence in Black and White" approaching platinum status. In 2002, 49% of the label was sold to Universal Music Group for an undisclosed amount. Soon after the transaction, Brummel changed his mind, sent the money back and called the deal off. Victory has its product distributed by Sony 's RED Distribution . It has been quoted that Brummel has valued the entire operation at $125 million. Victory Records is comprised mostly of Metalcore and Pop-punk bands. Sean Bonner worked as the Creative Director for the label from 1995 to 1998 . This is not the same Victory Records that was owned by JVC and run in the early '90s. SEE ALSO EXTERNAL LINKS |
