Victoria of Baden ( August 7 , 1862 - April 4 , 1930 ) was the Queen consort of King Gustav V of Sweden . Her parents were Grand Duke Frederick I Of Baden and his wife, Princess Louise Of Prussia , who was in turn the daughter of German Emperor Wilhelm I and Augusta Of Saxe-Weimar . Victoria was also great-granddaughter (by her paternal grandmother) of King Gustav IV Adolf of Sweden and Frederica Dorothea Wilhelmina Of Baden . She was born at the castle in Karlsruhe in Germany, and married Gustav, then Crown Prince of Sweden and Norway , on September 20 , 1881 . She became Queen of Sweden at her father-in-law's death on September 8 , 1907 . The couple had three children: # King Gustav VI Adolf ( 1882 - 1973 ) # Prince Wilhelm , Duke of Sudermannia ( 1884 - 1965 ) # Prince Erik , Duke of Westmannia ( 1889 - 1918 ) Queen Victoria had substantial political influence over her husband, who was often considered Pro-German. She was also devoted to various kinds of charity. |
