LOCATIONS OF UNIVERSIADES The table below gives an overview of all host cities of both the Summer and Winter Universiades. Only actual host cities are listed. FUTURE UNIVERSIADES 2009 Universiade city selection On January 10 , 2005 Belgrade and Harbin were announced as the host cities of the 2009 Universiades. 2011 Universiade city selection For , Canada , Chinese Taipei , Ireland and Poland . Edmonton , Alberta , has been confirmed to be the Canadian candidate city for the 2011 Summer Universiade. {Link without Title} . The city has been the only Canadian one to host the Universiade, as Edmonton has hosted previously the 1983 Summer Universiade. Erzurum Turkey, which lost to Harbin for the 2009 University Games, has decided to run for the 2011 Winter Universiade. FISU will announce the host of the 2011 Universiades on January 16, 2007.
