The United Hockey League (UHL) is a Professional Ice Hockey league with teams in the United States . The league is headquartered in Lake St. Louis, Missouri , a suburb of St. Louis .

Formed in 1991 as the Colonial Hockey League, it had teams in Brantford, Ontario ; Detroit, Michigan ; Flint, Michigan ; St. Thomas, Ontario ; and Thunder Bay, Ontario .

Currently the UHL has 14 teams. It is regarded on a tier below the American Hockey League and the ECHL , and on a par with the Central Hockey League .
