Un Security Council Resolution




A United Nations Security Council Resolution is voted on by the fifteen members of the United Nations Security Council , the most powerful organ of the United Nations . It is passed if nine or more members vote for the resolution, and if it is not voted against by any of the five permanent members. These members are the People's Republic Of China , which replaced the Republic Of China in 1971, France , the Russian Federation , which replaced the Soviet Union in 1991, the United Kingdom , and the United States .

There have been two major War s authorized by the Security Council; the 1950 Korean War , and the 1991 Gulf War .
