''Torosaurus latus'' {Link without Title} ("broad bull lizard") was a Ceratopsid Dinosaur Species . It had the biggest head of any land animal known, reaching 8.5 feet (2.6 meters) in length — at least until a 10 foot (3 meter) skull of a '' Pentaceratops '' was discovered. About half the body of the ''Torosaurus'' was head, excluding the tail. In total, it was about 25 Feet (7.6 Meter s) long and weighed 8 to 9 Ton s (7 to 8 Tonne s). CLASSIFICATION ''Torosaurus'' belonged to the Ceratopsia (the name is Greek for "horned face"), a group of herbivorous dinosaurs with Parrot -like beaks which thrived in North America and Asia during the Cretaceous Period, which ended roughly 65 million years ago. All ceratopsians became extinct at the end of this era. DIET ''Torosaurus'', like all Ceratopsians, was a Herbivore . During the Cretaceous, flowering plants were "geographically limited on the landscape", and so it is likely that this dinosaur fed on the predominant plants of the era: ferns, cycads and conifers. It would have used its sharp Ceratopsian beak to bite off the leaves or needles. REFERENCES
