Contrary to its name, the islands consists of 105 islands with land area of 8.7 km². Approximately 20,000 people inhabit the islands. Panggang Island is the most inhabited island. SUB-DISTRICTS Thousand Islands is divided into 2 Sub-districts :
TRADE Fishing is the main trade of the islands. However, there has been a drop in the value of the trade due to over-fishing by fishing vessels operating in the region.
