The Sound were a British Rock Group fronted by Adrian Borland , who though achieving little commercial success during their career span ( 1979 - 1987 ), have posthumously been recognised as one of the best bands of their era. Drawing comparison to Echo & The Bunnymen and Joy Division , they wrote melancholy yet uplifting and memorable songs, and were tipped to be the next band to breakthrough to the big time. Unfortunately, and unfathomably, it didn't work out that way, and despite leaving behind a string of great albums (mostly notably 1981's ''From The Lion's Mouth''), they remain largely unknown, whilst New-wave bands of a similar style remain popular to this day. Sadly, singer and co-songwriter Borland committed Suicide on April 26th, 1999. Shortly after his death, The Sound's back catalogue was Remastered and Reissued , resulting in a reappraisal of their career which has brought fresh public interest to one of the great lost bands.
