Because it was released shortly before Christmas , 1984, the band decided to depict the Nativity in the song's Video . HUEY LEWIS AND THE NEWS "The Power of Love" is the title of a 1985 single by Huey Lewis And The News written for and featured in the film '' Back To The Future ''. It gave the band their first #1 hit and later appeared on UK editions of the band's 4th studio album, Fore! . The song was nominated for an Academy Award at the 1986 Oscars. JENNIFER RUSH "The Power of Love" is the name of a Power Ballad co-written and originally recorded by Jennifer Rush . In 1985 Jennifer Rush's version became the first single by a female soloist to sell a million copies in the UK, and is among the UK's Best-selling Singles of all time. This success initially stood in contrast to the song's reception in the US , where Rush's original and a somewhat more successful cover version by Anglo-Australian duo Air Supply were only minor hits. The song was subsequently covered by two artists, each of whose recordings eclipsed all earlier versions on the US charts. A recording by Laura Branigan became a top 20 bestseller in late 1987; Céline Dion enjoyed a #1 US hit with her version, which was nominated for a 1995 Grammy Award . Other covers of the song include a Swedish Language version, "Ängel i natt", with another theme, written and recorded in 1985 by Elisabeth Andreasson . A Punjabi version of the song was featured in the 2002 film '' Bend It Like Beckham ''. EVERLY BROTHERS The Everly Brothers recorded "(You Got) The Power Of Love", written by Bonnie Bramlett and Joey Cooper , in Hollywood February 3rd 1966. Session artists included Glen Campbell , Larry Knechtel , Jim Gordon and Hal Blaine . Released by Warner Brothers as a single April in 1966, this rock and roll tune was a cohesive effort and remains a favorite today. The song featured on the ''In Our Image'' album subsequently released by Warner Brothers, one of a trio of albums regarded by Don Everly as the best {they} recorded for the Warner Brothers label, the other two being ''Rock N Soul'' and ''Beat N Soul''.
