BASIC INFORMATION The Like formed in September of 2001 by three girls at the tender age of 15, 15 and 16, respectively. The band members are all daughters of music industry veterans, with Z's father being former Geffen A&R man/record producer Tony Berg , Charlotte's father as producer Mitchell Froom and Tennessee's father Pete Thomas , longtime drummer for Elvis Costello . Since childhood; Froom, singer/guitarist Elizabeth "Z" Berg and drummer Tennessee Thomas were all immersed in classic rock, and all three took piano lessons before teaching themselves their current instruments They formed when the parents of childhood friends Tennessee and Charlotte learned that Z had been writing songs and showed interest in forming a band. Charlotte learned bass two weeks before joining, and the three began working together, getting fast results, especially considering that they formed the band when they were 15 The name comes from a habit that the girls, as many do, have of saying "like" all the time. Tennessee's mother suggested it and it stuck. MUSIC Over a period of three years, the ladies independently released three EPs (i like the like, and the like and like it or not) that they sold at shows and on their website. Soon a diverse fan base developed and magazines from around the world began to take notice. Following their high school graduations in 2004, The Like signed to Geffen Records and toured with Phantom Planet and Maroon 5. The Like are part of a Los Angeles music scene which includes bands such as Maroon 5 , Rooney , and Phantom Planet , who the band has supported on various tours. Since they formed, the band has drawn some major media attention, including being featured in magazines such as Teen People and Rolling Stone . Their song "(So I’ll Sit Here) Waiting" was featured on the soundtrack for the movie '' Thirteen ''. They recently toured with Tori Amos on her "Summer of Sin" tour and with Kings Of Leon . The Like released their first album '' Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking? '' through Geffen on September 13 , 2005 . The album is a combination of reworked songs previously released on their independent EPs as well as new material.
