''The Guardian'' was a weekly Anglican Newspaper published from 1846 to 1951 . It was founded by Richard William Church and other supporters of the Tractarian movement and was for many years the leading newspaper of the Church Of England . It should not be confused with the present British newspaper called '' The Guardian '', which was the ''Manchester Guardian'' until 1959. |
