'' The Vile Village ''
|
The fictional is a sensationalist newspaper from
A Series Of Unfortunate Events , a series by
Lemony Snicket .
The Daily Punctilio came into the Baudelaire's lives when they traveled in
The Vile Village to a town called the
Village Of Fowl Devotees . It is known in the book for publishing incorrect information. From the point that the town intended to burn
Jacques Snicket in the belief that he was
Count Olaf , this newspaper or its notorious reporters have followed the Baudelaire orphans literally everywhere along their journey beyond
The Vile Village . This newspaper, edited by
Eleanora Poe and carried abroad by lead reporter Geraldine Julienne, tries to make outlying communities recognize that the Baudelaire orphans were the true killers of
Jacques Snicket , who they thought was Count Olaf, whom they called Count Omar. In each book past
The Vile Village , it has forced to the Baudelaires to conceal their identities, although they are mistakenly called "Veronica, Kylde, and Susie Baudlaire." The Punctilio's worshippers stretched from the
Village Of Fowl Devotees to the
Hotel Denouement , in
The Penultimate Peril .
In the Unanuthorized Autobiography, there are portions of
Lemony Snicket 's play reviews for the Daily Punctilio. He was fired by
Eleanora Poe , chief editor, after mocking the acting ability of
Esme Squalor in a play by Al Funcoot (an anagram of
Count Olaf ). He attempts to publish one last article, but is caught by Eleanora Poe. Also, from portions of the newspaper in the Unathorized Autiobiography, it is implied that
Count Olaf or one of his henchmen changed articles that included investigations by volunteers.
Finally, the Daily Punctilio seems to have caused problems to VFD that are not directly related to the Baudelaires. Geraldine Julienne wrote numerous articles called "Secret Organizations You Should Know About." In the Unauthorized Autobiography, minutes from a VFD meeting, the members discuss where to move as the their current headquarters was once again printed in the article. This is the only mentioned information that the Punctilio printed correctly. It is also implied that a spy was in the midst of VFD, most likely Count Olaf.
