''The Collector'' is a supernatural drama, in the tradition of s from others who have dealt with the Devil. As long as he does that, he'll continue to walk the earth, immortal, but the moment he stops, the deal ends. Miserable, lost, alone, Morgan took the deal, but didn't have courage enough to ask where Katrina's soul had gone. Six centuries later, that still torments him, but he has tried to bury it in the mindless routine of a Collector's lonely existence: no sleep, no friends, just one call a week with a name of someone in the city of . Why the early warning? The Devil enjoys a good laugh, and watching people squirm for the last 48 hours is one of his great pleasures. But in our first episode, something happens: Morgan meets a pretty young Junkie named Maya ( Sonya Salomaa ), who brings up all of his loss over Katrina, and his existence finally becomes intolerable. He goes to the Devil, but doesn't end his deal – instead, he renegotiates for the power to help his "clients" seek redemption in the last 48 hours of their existence. (The Devil's deals work by reapportioning Luck ; the client gets 10 years of good luck, but the balancing bad luck goes elsewhere – to another person, a group of people, Society , etc. To seek redemption, a client must take on the painful and nearly hopeless task of redressing this bad luck in their last 48 hours.) The Devil, intrigued by having a Wild Card in his otherwise predictable Omnipotent existence, agrees to Morgan's request. Not all of Morgan's clients will choose to seek redemption; of the ones that do, many will fail. As for those who achieve redemption, some will deserve and it and some won't; and sometimes , family issues, science fact – any area of human endeavor imaginable. But regardless of the subject matter, Morgan's fundamental drive will always be to prove that everyone, no matter what they've done, can earn redemption…and that, perhaps, that may someday include himself. The Collector is in its third season in 2006 on Space and CityTV. However, the series has been pulled from the regular CityTV schedule as of March 2006. A number of dedicated fans are trying to save the show through petitions and other actions. Main characters Morgan Pym ( Chris Kramer ) is a collector of damned Soul s who have made a deal with the devil. He was a fourteenth-century monk who made his deal because of love. While still a monk Morgan fell in love with Katrina, breaking his vows. She immediately began to show symptoms of The Plague . Morgan sold his soul to the devil for ten years of life for the woman he loved. Now he collects souls for the devil, and just recently, is given 48 hours to help the clients find redemption. The time remaining for the client is displayed on his Cell Phone . Gabriel Slate is the son of investigative reporter Jeri Slate who regularly encounters Morgan Pym in her investigations and is professionally obsessed with him. Gabriel, addressed as Gabe in the series, is an autistic child who is somehow connected to Morgan Pym and is regularly visited by The Devil. Some of Gabe's actions influence the stories and he displays an amazing perception as to what is happening to Morgan. His connection to Morgan is explored further progressively through each episode. Maya Kandinsky ( Carly Pope in Season 1, Sonya Salomaa from Season 2 onwards) used to be a well-adjusted person until she was diagnosed with AIDS . Upon hearing the news, she lost all desire to be successful, eventually ending up on the streets with an addiction to Heroin . The first client Morgan tried to save removed her AIDS by inflicting it upon himself. This is when Morgan took her under his wing. She would deeply resent this, stating that life was simpler before he intervened, and would keep up her addiction with the money that Morgan gave her for food. It was later revealed that she had made a deal with the devil, of which she had no recollection, in order for her childhood molestor to leave her alone. At that time, the devil reminded her of this deal, causing her to try to end it and go to hell, because the reproportioned bad luck resulted in another little girl being molested by her father. She had just about convinced Morgan to collect her soul when the little girl was saved by Gabe. However, the full scale of the inter-connection between Maya, Morgan, and Gabe has not yet been revealed. The Devil is portrayed using a unique . This is used to emphasize how he is so devious. Gabriel is the only person who can see past this and identify him without seeing the fire. The Devil does not do anything good without doing something that does more damage, so as to create more evil and strife. In the last 48 hours of a deal, The Devil begins to undo the effects of the deal on his client (for example, if they sold their soul for a normal family, they will all begin to fall apart at the end). In this way, he can enjoy watching them squirm as they see their world fall apart when the end approaches. It is in these 48 hours that Morgan has to help them find their redemption.
