Originally formed as the British Columbia Horse in 1910, the regiment gained its current name in 1929. In November 1914 many members of the regiment formed the Canadian Expeditionary Force 's 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles which is now perpetuated by the BCD. During the Second World War , they were the first unit to break through the Gustav Line in Italy, 1944. ORDER OF PRECEDENCE
