Tenali is known for its rich cultural and literary legacy. It has produced many famous poets, actors and educationists. Because of its contribution to literature, stage drama, movies and education, it is called as Andhra Paris.
The major importent village
is Kancherla Paleam.which is a historical village where famous freedom fighters were born namely Chukkaplli Venkat satyanarayana and so many others. Kakumanu's clan is famous family in tenali. They have donated hugh amount of valuable properties to temples and erected several Kakumanu satra's across the city.
You can find a small world here with all communities living in harmony. It has communities like Brahmins, Kammas, Vaishyas, Kapus, Yadavas, Sali, Muslims, Christians etc. People of all communities here are highy educated and politically conscious.
Thare are good number of famous temples like Kanyaka Parameswari temple, Vaikunthapuram, Pata Sivalayam, Pata Anjaneya swamy gudi, Chitti Anjaneya Swami gudi etc. There will be festivals though out the year.
It is perhaps most well known as the hometown of Tenali Ramakrishna (also known as Tenali Rama), the legendary court jester in King Krishnadevaraya 's court.

Two famous scientists from Tenali are (late) Dr. Y. Nayudamma and Dr. A. V. Rama Rao, Dr.Jandhyala (a famous Kidney specialist who worked at CMC Vellore).

It is the place where first A.P's Printing Press Kakumanu Press established and it was printed Brahmam Gari Kalagnanam in 1930.

Tenali has all the specialities and is part of the twin cities of Coastal Andhra comprising Guntur , Tenali and Vijayawada . It is located in the junction to Vijayawada and Guntur. The three cities are very near to each other. All major trains stop here and it is one of the most famous business centres on the Chennai - Vijayawada line. It is called a small city by all for its importance. Everybody likes Tenali for its location. All facilities, such as colleges, hospitals and business centres are available in Tenali.
