He succeeded his father Tarondor in T.A. 1798. His reign was largely uneventful except for the recapture by surprise of Umbar in T.A. 1810. After this event he took the title ''Umbardacil'' ("victor over Umbar"). He was succeeded by his son Narmacil II in T.A. 1850.
