Information AboutTekken 5 |
''Tekken 5'' is the sixth installment in the popular '' Tekken '' video game franchise. It is the last in the series for the PlayStation 2 so far. GAMEPLAY ''Tekken 5'' rectifies the mistakes left by its predecessor '' Tekken 4 '', and is credited for taking the series back to its roots. It incorporates a faster, more fluid fighting system, improved graphics, returning characters, and the ''Tekken series'' trademark infinite stages. It also retains its wall juggling concept from ''Tekken 4'', but the element is effectively less easy to abuse and easier to defend against. The home version is a collector's edition of sorts, as it includes full arcade emulations of '' Tekken '', '' Tekken 2 '' '' Tekken 3 '', and '' Star Blade ''. STORY Following the conclusion of the ''Tekken 4'' tournament, Heihachi Mishima defeated Kazuya Mishima and led him to Hon Maru, planning to let both Kazuya and Jin Kazama battle, and steal their respective Devil Genes . However, Jin defeats both of his predescesors and flies away, leaving the latter two unconsious. Shortly after, Jack-4's invade the compound, programmed to take Heihachi's life. For a short moment of time, father and son fight off the horde of Jacks, until Kazuya gets a better idea and escapes, leaving Heihachi to deal with the Jack-4's by himself. They quickly overwhelm him and self-destruct, leaving him for dead and also reviving Jinpachi Mishima from his 50 year slumber. Jinpachi then proceeds to take back the Mishima Zaibatsu for himself. A few days later, the fifth ''King of Iron Fist Tournament'' is announced. CHARACTER ROSTER Returning Characters

TEKKEN 5: DARK RESURRECTION Currently available in arcades throughout the world, soon to be released for the PSP: , once known as ''Tekken 5.2'', is an upgrade of ''Tekken 5''. It was officially announced at the 2005 JAMMA AM Show but news of it leaked slightly beforehand. Unlike ''Tekken 5.1'' which merely tried to balance ''Tekken 5'', ''Dark Resurrection'' adds a host of new content. Information Over 35 stages are available, including all-new stages and a remade forest stage from '' Tekken 3 ''. All of the existing stages from ''Tekken 5'' have been set in different times of day, with differing setpieces (Heihachi's Honmaru compound, for instance, is no-longer burning, and the secret garden is now strewn with jack-o-lanterns). The prior versions of these stages are still available, but must be unlocked. There are many more customization items for the characters, and for the first time, Mokujin and Eddy can be customized as well. All extra costumes from the PS2 edition of the game are present, and some have been made customizable ( Xiaoyu and Asuka's school uniforms). The three animal characters have had their custom color regions expanded/reworked, including color options for Roger's and Panda's fur. The bear characters have more expressive facial animation (mouth movement). Eddy Gordo is a standard character, separate from Christie , with his own character select space and items. Armor King is a standard character with moves of his own. All characters have new moves. Jinpachi Mishima has an altered appearance, with a skin texture like veins of fire or flowing magma, and a glowing white horn protrudes from his forehead. The selection screen and VS loading screen sport new CG renders of all the characters, most featuring new default color schemes. Also, pre-release ''Dark Resurrection'' is undergoing another revision before it is released to the PSP in 2006. There are two brand new characters in ''T5: DR'', and Lili uses her skills in dance to fight in her own "tricky" style. In addition to these, the now-released arcade game has two yet-to-be-unlocked spaces on the character select screen. Names like Kunimitsu, Devil and Ogre have been tossed around, or perhaps some version of Jinpachi Mishima. Those names are pure speculation, but the precedent for secret characters is that these would be existing characters from the franchise, not new ones. Tekken: Dark Resurrection for the PSP is currently under developement. According to Japanese gaming publication, ''Weekly Famitsu'', the developement of game is 60% completed. It will feature wireless ad-hoc playmode for multiplayer battles as well. The game is set to be released during Quarter 4 of 2006 in Japan and America. EXTERNAL LINKS
