HIGH SCHOOL CAREER

At Fort Gibson High School in Oklahoma, Teddy Lehman starred in football at both linebacker and running back.

As a senior, he was a PrepStar and a SuperPrep All-America choice, and ranked the No.6th Player in the state by First Down Publications.

First-team All-State pick by the Daily Oklahoman, Tulsa World and high school coaches association.

Ranked as the sixth best player in the state by FirstDown Publications and also ranked as the 40th best linebacker in the nation and fifth best in the Midlands by Super Prep.

Played linebacker and fullback, helping his squad post its best record ever (13-1) and advance to the Class 4A title game.

Ended his senior season with 151 tackles, three interceptions, two sacks and three caused fumbles (ranked fourth in the state Class 4A in tackles).

Ranked third in the state in rushing with 1,252 yards and 16 touchdowns on 206 carries (6.1 avg.) as a running back.

Also handled the punting duties for the Tigers with an average of 39.6 which was the tops in Class 4A.

Recorded more than 400 tackles and seven interceptions during his career.


COLLEGE CAREER

At the University Of Oklahoma , Lehman won the Dick Butkus Award (awarded to the best linebacker in college football), and the Chuck Bednarik Award (given to one of the best defensive players in the nation).

These honors came on the heels of several other national honors for the Sooner defensive standout. Lehman was also named to the FWAA, AFCA and Walter Camp All-America teams for the second-straight year.

He was picked as the Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year by the league’s coaches and chosen to several other All-Big 12 teams by the Kansas City Star and Associated Press.

During the 2003 season, Lehman continued his success from his breakout 2002 campaign by leading the team in tackles for the second-consecutive year with 109. Lehman also added one forced fumble, six pass breakups and 12 tackles for loss. He received the SBC Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honor after registering a career high 17 tackles and intercepting a pass against UCLA.

2003:

Consensus All-American first-team selection.

Winner of the Dick Butkus Award (nation’s top linebacker) and Bednarik Award (nation’s top defensive player).

Unanimous All-Big 12 Conference first-team choice.

Rated the top outside linebacker prospect in the country by The NFL Draft Report.

Started all year at weak-side outside linebacker, and led the team with a career-high 117 tackles (63 solos), including two sacks and 19 stops for losses. His 19 stops behind the line of scrimmage broke the school’s season-record for linebackers (17 by Brian Bosworth in 1986, 17 by Torrance Marshall in 1999 and 17 by Rocky Calmus in 2000).

Closed out his career with eight tackles (six solos) and two stops behind the line of scrimmage, including a sack, in the Sugar Bowl against LSU.

2002:

Chevrolet National Defensive Player of the Year and was one of three finalists for the Butkus Award.

First-team All-American selection by The NFL Draft Report, Associated Press, Football Writers Association, Walter Camp, The Sports Network and CNN/SI.

Named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year by The Sports Network and added All-Big 12 Conference first-team honors from the media and league coaches.

Chosen team co-defensive MVP.

Shared Sooner Iron Man strength and conditioning award for upperclassmen with Quentin Griffin and Kory Klein.

Lined up at weak-side outside linebacker, finishing second on the team with 112 tackles (85 solos), including two sacks and 17 stops for losses.

Posted six tackles (five solos) in the Rose Bowl against Washington State and sacked QB Jason Gesser twice (17 yards) as both sacks killed scoring drives at the end of the second quarter.


PRO CAREER

2004:

Only rookie linebacker in the NFL to start all 16 games this season.

Logged a total of 1,225 plays (1,054 on defense, 171 on special teams), more than any other member of the team.

Finished the season with 120 tackles, the second-highest tally on the team.

Tallied a career-high 12 tackles at Jacksonville (11/14). Recorded a team-high nine tackles to surpass the 100-tackle mark and registered his first career sack vs. Minnesota (12/19).

Finished the season strong with one pass defensed and 11 tackles at Tennessee (1/2), his fourth double-digit tackle outing of the season.
