Team New Zealand had won the America’s Cup taking it to New Zealand – only the second time it had left America in its 149 year history. Five years later, in Auckland , Team New Zealand became the first and the only non – American country to defend and retain the America’s Cup. New Zealand is a nation with testing sailing conditions which renowned for producing many world class sailors and yachting designers. Famous sailors include Sir Peter Blake , Russell Coutts , Grant Dalton to name a few. Well known designers include Bruce Farr , Greg Elliot and Tom Schnakenburg. It is not surprising that Team New Zealand is once again amongst the favorites to win the 2007 Americas Cup to be held in Valencia . |
