Information About

Team Magma

Team Aqua and Team Magma are rival organizations in the Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire / Emerald games, both attempting to take over the world by bringing their own rival Pokémon.

TEAM AQUA

In the Pokémon world, Team Aqua is a group of thieves in the Hoenn Region. They specialise in the field of water Pokémon and maybe dark (in the Pokémon game, they mostly use Poochyena and Carvanha ).

Team Aqua are based in a giant Nuclear Submarine out at sea, with a helicopter for land-to-sea travel. The team members all wear striped blue and white shirts with jeans. Their Do-rag s bear a white Skull-and-crossbone in the shape of the letter "A". Unlike Team Magma , Team Aqua is run by a ruthless Commander. Shelly (Izumi in the Japanese version) is referred to as ''Team Aqua Leader'', though the actual leader is Archie (Aogiri in the Japanese version).

Team Aqua are likened to a band of Pirates and are experts in the field of Oceanography as well as water Pokémon. They only exist in the Hoenn Region and do not reconize Team Rocket , unlike Team Magma. Team Aqua are the bitter Antagonists of Team Magma and are currently in a brief war with each other. Team Aqua's main goal is to flood the world as a giant ocean for their water Pokémon. To that end, they will awaken Kyogre from its slumber.

Team Aqua is slightly more vicious than Team Magma , and has more females in its group. The Team Aqua Commander is a female herself, and their main thoughts about Ash Ketchum are not made clear, though she and the Team Magma Commander (who seemed to have a relationship of sorts with her once) do see him as a pest. Team Aqua are well-known in the Hoenn Region, and they often blackmail local fishermen into telling lies. It has been verified that neither Team Aqua nor Team Magma will be appearing in any future Pokémon episodes.

Team Aqua leader Archie

Archie is the boss of Team Aqua.

His Pokémon are Mightyena , Crobat , Sharpedo and Walrein . He is a ruthless villain who was once a friend of Maxie. But as his skills in Pokémon grew, so did his greed. He organized Team Aqua, an evil water Pokémon organization, to battle Team Magma for world control. In episode 374 -The Scuffle of Legends, Archie had absorbed the red orb into his body, gaining the power to control Kyogre, but the orb was expelled from his body later in the episode because Archie's body couldn't take the power strain of the orb. Archie commented later that he had no memory of the event and He and his Team Joined Lovrina, Team Cipher and Team Snagem in the Esipode 300 named The Great Kill.

In the games

In the Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald games, Team Aqua is either good or evil. In Ruby, Team Aqua is good, but in Sapphire and Emerald, they are evil. In the latter 2 games, they seek to awaken the Pokemon Kyogre, and use its powers to create tidal waves and rainstorms, and thus expand the sea mass.

In Sapphire, Team Aqua steals a Meteorite and attempts to use it to calm an active volcano, Mt. Chimney. Their plan is foiled by the player. Team Aqua then steals a submarine and uses it to dive to the Underwater Cave where Kyorge sleeps. Archie travels to Mt. Pyre and steals the Red Orb which can control Kyogre. When the Red Orb acts of its own accord, Kyogre flees, and the Team Magma leader Maxie shows Archie a world suffering from intense rainstorms, more intense then Archie intended. Using the Blue Orb, players then travel to Sootopolis City and battle Kyogre, either defeating it or catching it. Afterwards, Archie returns the Red Orb to Mt. Pyre, and is never seen again.

In Emerald, Team Aqua is evil, so the plot changes subtly. Team Aqua attacks a museum with the intent of stealing a submarine, but is foiled by the player. They later attack a weather institute to capture a Pokemon that can control the weather (this Pokemon is Castform). They are foiled again. As in Sapphire, they travel to the Underwater Cave and awaken Kyorge, who then travels to Sootopolis. This is part 1 of a two part quest to awaken both Kyorge and Groudon. As the two fight both Maxie and Archie watch in horror, and both are confused as to why they cannot use their respective Orbs to control their respective Pokemon. After Rayquaza calms the two, Maxie and Archie return the Orbs to Mt. Pyre, and neither is ever seen again.

TEAM MAGMA

In the Pokémon world, Team Magma are a group of thieves/peacemakers in Pokémon Advanced . They are a group of experts in the field of Geology and Plate Tectonics . Like Team Rocket , some rebels are Pokémon thieves, but Team Magma specialises in the field of Fire Pokémon.

The Group all wear dark-red uniforms with a black "M" on their shirts. The head of Team Magma is Matsubusa (Maxie in the English version), but his 2nd in command is ''The Commander'', named Homura (''Tabitha'' in the English version). An other important member of Team Magma is Bannai (''Brody'' in the English version), who owns a Ditto and is able to dress up like anyone he wants. Team Magma often use equipment that is normally used for experiments with high temperatures. They have no vehicles except the Commander's helicopter.

Team Magma are bitter rivals of Team Aqua . Though Team Magma does not exist outside the Hoenn Reigon, they do know the work of Team Rocket , who have no Hoenn branch there. Team Magma's main purpose is to borrow the mystical Blue Orb from Mt. Pyre, and take it back to their Hideout. To that end, they'll awaken Groudon from its slumber.

Team Magma frequently make appearances in ''Pokémon Advanced'', and are seen merely as "big brothers" rather than a proper archrival. They eventually disappear after a battle between Groudon and Kyogre. It has been verified that neither Team Aqua nor Team Magma will be appearing in any future Pokémon episodes. Brody, however makes one final appearance after the disappearance of Team Magma.

Team Magma leader Maxie

Maxie is the Leader of Team Magma. He is a good man who wants to make life better for everyone, which is why he organized Team Magma. Unfortunately, Harland, Maxie's evil sidekick, commited crimes behind his boss's back, and lied to him about borrowing the arsenals they needed.
Maxie met Ash in ''Gaining Groudon'', and told him of his dreams. He also told Ash about the Blue Orb, which could control Groudon, and with it in his hands, he could make life better for Hoenn. Suddenly, Harland tried to steal it, but Pikachu stopped him, but got possesed by the Blue Orb in the process. It controlled Groudon, and a cataclysmic battle began. Maxie helped Ash and friends escape Team Aqua, and also defeated Harland.
After the battle, Maxie thanked Ash, and realized that the land of Hoenn was perfect the way it was, and led Team Magma away. He has not been seen since then.

In the games

In the Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald games, Team Magma is either good or evil. In Sapphire, Team Magma is good-natured, while in Ruby and Emerald, they are evil. In the latter 2 games, they seek to awaken the Pokemon Groudon, and use its powers to make volcanos erupt and thus expand the land mass.

In Ruby, Team Magma steals a Meteorite and attempts to use it to activate a dormant volcano, Mt. Chimney. Their plan is foiled by the player. Team Magma then steals a submarine and uses it to dive to the Underwater Cave where Groudon sleeps. Maxie travels to Mt. Pyre and steals the Blue Orb which can control Groudon. When the Blue Orb acts of its own accord, Groudon flees, and the Team Aqua leader Archie shows Maxie a world suffering from intense sunlight, more intense then Maxie intended. The player then travels to Sootopolis City and uses the Red Orb to awaken and subsequently battle Groudon, either defeating it or catching it. Afterwards, Maxie returns the Blue Orb to Mt. Pyre, and apologizes for his actions. With that, he leaves Mt. Pyre and is never seen again.

In Emerald, both Teams are evil, so the plot changes subtly. While in Ruby Team Magma's base is in Lilycove City, in Emerald it is hidden inside Mt. Chimney. The Team also attacks Mossdeep City and the Space Center, planning to steal the rocket fuel and use it to make the volcano erupt. The plan is foiled. Maxie, while expanding the Magma Hideout, has been recently digging and expanding their cave, and is reputed to have discovered something powerful. As with Ruby, Maxie steals the Blue Orb, and goes to the middle of the Magma Hideout, where Groudon is found. Groudon flees, and this is part 1 of a 2 part quest to awaken both Groudon and Kyogre. As the two fight both Maxie and Archie watch in horror, and both are confused as to why they cannot use their respective Orbs to control their respective Pokemon. After Rayquaza calms the two, Maxie and Archie return the Orbs to Mt. Pyre, and neither is ever seen again.
