Team Losi (commonly referred to as just '''Losi''') is a USA based Radio-controlled Car manufacturer founded by Gil Losi in the mid- 1980s . Their first vehicle was the JRX-2, a 1/10 scale off-road racing buggy, which came out in 1988 . They are currently distributed by Horizon Hobby , and by local Hobby Shop s. The Car s, Truck s, and Buggies that Team Losi makes are normally designed for racing and are very competitive, with the notable exceptions of the Mini-T and the Losi Super Truck (LST). These vehicles were targeted at the "basher" market. The racing models were originally available as an unassembled Kit , which reduced assembly errors that annoyed serious racers. The racing models also use higher quality parts for more consistent performance. The Team Losi "sport" RTR (ready to run) models are slightly de-tuned versions of the racing kits. They have plastic parts that have "RTR" molded into every piece, and are completely assembled with a JR radio, Novak speed control, and unknown brand 19 turn "spec" locked endbell motor. Losi makes both on and off-road vehicles, competing well in organized racing. The on-road XXX-S is a belt-driven four wheel drive touring sedan. Currently popular Losi offroad vehicles are the XXX-T2, XXX-NT2, JRX-S, Mini-T, XXX-4, XXX-BK2, and LST, and the recently re-released xx-4. Losi makes the only four wheel drive 1/10 scale buggies common in the USA, although Yokomo does field a competing chassis. The XX-4 and XXX-4 are unusual in that they use Gilmer Belts , instead of shafts and gearboxes for their primary drive train. Because dirt wears out the belts quickly, they are usually reserved for cleaner on-road cars. The XXX-4 solves this problem by completely enclosing the belt. EXTERNAL LINKS
