Talpa is the name of a commercial Television Channel in The Netherlands . The name is the Latin word for Mole (the animal), ''mol'' in Dutch , which refers to the surname of its founder, Dutch multi-billionaire John De Mol . Talpa currently holds the television rights to summaries of matches played in the Eredivisie , the Dutch top-flight Football league. The live broadcasting rights are held by Versatel , another De Mol venture. Talpa had its official opening night on August 13 , 2005 . Between August 1 and then, it showed trailers of its future programmes. It broadcasts only in the evenings, as it shares its channel with Nickelodeon . Talpa announced that in late 2006 or early 2007 , it will start a second channel. PROGRAMMES Programmes include 'De wedstrijden' (summaries of the Eredivisie football league), Big Brother , Expedition Robinson and NSE ('News, Sport & Entertainment'). NSE, however, is due to be cancelled due to the lack of viewers which is plagueing more Talpa programs. Talpa is also noted for including a large amount of new drama series, such as ''Gooische Vrouwen'', ''Lotte'', ''Van Speijk'' and ''Boks''.
