On August 20 , 2004 , it was announced that Sun Media would purchase a minority interest in Toronto One (now rebranded SUN TV), a television station in Toronto, Ontario . The majority interest in this station will be purchased by TVA , a Quebec television network which is also a division of Quebecor. The sale was concluded on December 2 , 2004 . At present, Sun Media is largely absent from the Vancouver, British Columbia newspaper market, aside from the minor '' 24 Hours '' paper; establishing a Sun newspaper there has proven difficult due to the existence of both the Broadsheet '' Vancouver Sun '' and the Tabloid '' Vancouver Province '', both of which are owned by CanWest Global . In the mid-1990s Sun Media attempted to establish itself in Vancouver by publishing a daily sports newspaper there, but the experiment was not a success. SUN MEDIA PUBLICATIONS
