GEOGRAPHY Summersville is located at 37°10'41" North, 91°39'31" West (37.178141, -91.658521). According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 2.9 Km&2 (1.1 Mi&2 ). None of the area is covered with water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 544 people, 236 households, and 148 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 189.2/km&2 (489.0/mi&2). There were 284 housing units at an average density of 98.8/km&2 (255.3/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 98.53% White , 0.00% African American , 0.92% Native American , 0.18% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.00% from Other Races , and 0.37% from two or more races. 0.37% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 236 households out of which 33.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% were Married Couples living together, 10.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.9% were non-families. 35.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 25.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 2.96.
