GEOGRAPHY Sulligent is located at 33°53'41" North, 88°7'55" West (33.894807, -88.131920). According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 20.3 Km&2 (7.8 Mi&2 ). 20.3 km&2 (7.8 mi&2) of it is land and none of it is covered by water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 2,151 people, 901 households, and 637 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 105.8/km&2 (273.9/mi&2). There were 1,029 housing units at an average density of 50.6/km&2 (131.0/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 77.08% White , 21.80% Black or African American , 0.00% Native American , 0.00% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.60% from Other Races , and 0.51% from two or more races. 1.58% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 901 households out of which 29.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.9% were Married Couples living together, 13.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.3% were non-families. 28.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.90. In the city the population was spread out with 23.6% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 24.4% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 87.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.2 males.
