Stow Creek Township is a Township located in Cumberland County , New Jersey . As of the United States 2000 Census , the township had a total population of 1,429. GEOGRAPHY According to the United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 48.9 Km&2 (18.9 Mi&2 ). 47.8 km&2 (18.5 mi&2) of it is land and 1.1 km&2 (0.4 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 2.23% water. Stow Creek Township borders Hopewell Township , Shiloh , Greenwich Township , Salem County , and the Delaware Bay . DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 1,429 people, 536 households, and 425 families residing in the township. The Population Density was 29.9/km&2 (77.5/mi&2). There were 560 housing units at an average density of 11.7/km&2 (30.4/mi&2). The racial makeup of the township was 93.42% White , 3.50% African American , 1.61% Native American , 0.21% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.84% from Other Races , and 0.42% from two or more races. 1.68% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 536 households out of which 32.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.0% were Married Couples living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.7% were non-families. 17.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.01. In the township the population was spread out with 23.5% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 29.0% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 96.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.8 males. The median income for a household in the township was $52,500, and the median income for a family was $58,583. Males had a median income of $35,500 versus $26,528 for females. The Per Capita Income for the township was $20,925. 6.7% of the population and 5.7% of families were below the Poverty Line . 8.1% of those under the age of 18 and 12.1% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line. GOVERNMENT Federal, state and county representation Stow Creek Township is in the Second Congressional District and is part of New Jersey's 3rd Legislative District. EDUCATION The Stow Creek School serves students in Kindergarten through eighth grade. For grades 9-12, students attend Cumberland Regional High School , which serves students from Deerfield Township , Fairfield Township , Greenwich Township , Hopewell Township , Shiloh Borough , Stow Creek Township and Upper Deerfield Township .
