Jordan worked as the house drummer for the Saturday Night Live band during the 1970s. When John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd toured as The Blues Brothers in the early 1980s , Jordan was the drummer; however, he did not appear in the movie of the same name. He was also the first drummer (before Anton Fig) in the Paul Shaffer -led "World's Most Dangerous Band", the live studio band for David Letterman 's ''Late Night'' show on NBC . Additional studio credits include work with sax player David Sanborn , not only on drum set, but on rhythm guitar as well. Jordan, along with fellow Shaffer alumnus Anton Fig , appeared on the Rolling Stones 1986 release Dirty Work when Charlie Watts'participation was stilled due to his drug and alcohol addictions of the mid eighties. In the wake of this work, Jordan was used by Keith Richards on Aretha Franklin 's cover version of ''Jumpin' Jack Flash'' for a 1986 soundtrack of the same name. According to Richards, Jordan pleaded on the plane home from the Aretha recording session in Detroit to include him in the upcoming Documentary by Taylor Hackford ''Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll'', a tribute to Chuck Berry . Richards had been hoping to include Charlie Watts in the project, but when this was impossible, Jordan was hired and appears in many scenes with Berry and Richards. This lead to Jordan's inclusion in ''Keith Richards and the X-Pensive Winos'', the band that toured and recorded with Richards in 1988 and 1992 respectively on Talk Is Cheap and Main Offender . In fact, Jordan is co-producer of each record as well as contributing songwriting credits with Richards. One of these collaboartions made it onto the Billboard Singles Chart via the Rolling Stones Steel Wheels album in 1989 "Almost Hear You Sigh" peaked at number 39 in December of 1989. Between work with Richards he toured with Neil Young. During the 1990s, Jordan worked with James Taylor as well as the moderately successful female vocalist Billie Myers among other artists. He recently produced Patti Scialfa ’s latest solo record, '' 23rd Street Lullaby '', and also has appeared as a member of the John Mayer Trio in 2006. Jordan will join Eric Clapton 's hand-picked touring band for the forthcoming European Tour 2006, including 7 shows at the Royal Albert Hall. |
