He studied drama at University Of Newcastle .

He currently hosts ''In Siberia Tonight'' (2005) which is a late night TV show airing on SBS with guests, music, and of course, his mother Evelyn - including a segment called "My Son's Favourite Food" where we get to watch Steve and Eve bicker comically in the kitchen.

Steve Abbott is also a qualified Cricket Umpire .
