GEOGRAPHY

St Martin's is located in the South-East of Guernsey . It borders the Forest in the South-West, St Andrew's in the North-West and St Peter Port in the North-East. St Martin's also has a very small detatchment in the West.


Beaches

The coast has quite a lot of cliffs but the beaches in St Martin's (from South-West to North-East) include:
  • Part of Petit Bot Bay (pronounced 'Petty Bow')

  • Saint's Bay

  • Moulin Huet (pronounced 'Moolin Wet';see 'features' below)

  • Petit Port (the beach is currently innaccesable from land at the moment, as the steps leading to it have been damaged)

  • Marble Bay (also known as Le Pied du Mur)

  • Part of Fermain Bay



Relief

St Martin's is the second highest parish (the highest is the Forest ). The highest areas in the parish are in the middle but this gently slopes down to the edges, where on the coast, it finishes off with steep cliffs.


FEATURES


The features of the parish include:
  • Jebourg Point, the most South-Easterly point in the island

  • Moulin Huet Bay (this large area of water includes Saint's Bay, Moulin Huet and Petit Port). Renoir famously painted a landscape here.

The following main roads (listed from South-West to North-East) provide important links between St Martin's and the other parishes:
  • Forest Road (leads to the Forest and the West of the island)

  • Les Varioufs (leads to St Andrew's and the North-West of the island)

  • Fort Road (leads to St Peter Port , the East Coast and the North of the island)
