Saint-Hyacinthe is a City in southwestern Quebec east of Montreal on the Yamaska River . Population (2001 census) 51,394.

Saint Hyacinthe's region invites you to the discovery of the perfect marriage of the rural and urban circles. Saint-Hyacinthe is the birthplace of prominent Quebec statesman, Yves Michaud .

It is the location of the famous Casavant Frères Pipe Organ builders.

In 2002 Saint-Hyacinthe and its suburbs amalgamated. These are the amalgamated municipalities and their 2001 populations.


From 1989 to 1996 the city had a team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League known as the Saint-Hyacinthe Laser . Currently the city is represented in the Ligue Nord-Americaine De Hockey by the St. Hyacinthe Cristal .
