Spider-Man is a Action Game based upon the Marvel Comics character, Spider-Man . It was developed by Neversoft , using the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Engine . Released originally for the PlayStation , in 2000 , the game was ported to PC , Nintendo 64 , Sega Dreamcast and Game Boy Color . Peter Parker is at the science show, presented by Dr. Otto Octavius. Before Octavius can fully explain the use of his new device, "Spider-Man" arrives on stage and steals it. Parker bumps into Eddie Brock, who turns into Venom after his realisation of failure. Spider-Man goes on the run while fighting the criminals of the Jade Syndicate. Afterward, he must escape the Police , who follow him in a Helicopter . After the chase is over, The Black Cat finds Spider-Man and tells him that Venom has taken over the screen at Times Square. Venom announces that if Spider-Man doesn't contact Venom, then he will kill Mary Jane . Spider-Man follows Venom to his lair where he and Venom fight, while Spider-Man works hard to free Mary-Jane. Afterward, Venom and Spider-Man team up yet again to find out who is truly behind the act. Symbiotes then invade the Daily Bugle, and Spider-Man finds that Mysterio was the thief and that Dr. Octopus engineered the theft to conduct his true experiment - the combination of human life and Symbiote. Spider-Man and Venom re-team up as they find Dr. Octopus, but Venom leaves again to fight Carnage . After Octopus's defeat, Venom is defeated by Carnage and Spider-Man fights and wins against him. The symbiote seeps out of the sonic room and onto Dr. Octopus, creating the hybrid "Monster-Ock". Spider-Man escapes as the facility explodes and Dr. Octopus and Carnage are separated. CHARACTERS
PUBLIC RESPONSE The game was very popular with fans of the comic book, as it is often felt that video games based on Spider-Man have treated the character properly. The game included numerous secrets such as the ability to change Spider-Man's costume to the various different versions he has had over the years. As often occurred in the comic books, other superheros such as the Human Torch appear to move the storyline along, and the dialogue between the levels was widely seen as true to form. SEE ALSO
