The club began playing in the Northern League in 1931/32 as ''Evenwood Town F.C.'', and changed their name to the current in 2005. The team plays its home matches at The Brewery Field, and is managed by Ken Houlahan. The club play in black and white stripes. Their town rivals are Bishop Auckland F.C. , who also share Spennymoor's stadium. Some club legends include Martin Houlahan, Stephen Houlahan and Craig Thorne, who all still play for the club.
