THE DRIVE SC 5 begins as a rural road and runs at 55 MPH for most of the run before entering Rock Hill. SC 5 intersects Old Hickory RD nearly one and a quarter miles into its existence. Old Hickory is the main road to Van Wyck. A mile and a half further up the road, SC 5 serves as the western terminus for SC 75 . After crossing the CSX line, SC 5 rides for nearly seven miles before entering Rock Hill, South Carolina . There, it merges with US 21 northbound and becomes known as South Anderson Road. They quickly head off again, and SC 5 heads straight towards downtown Rock Hill, where it splits off and becomes two one-way roads for about a mile, and also where it crosses US 21 Business and South Carolina State Highway 122 . One mile out of downtown Rock Hill, SC 5 crosses over SC 322 . From there, after a couple of suburbian miles, SC 5 enters downtown York . Eight miles after leaving York, SC 5 serves as the western terminus for SC 55 . Also, after running into SC 55, SC 5 serves as the nothern terminus for SC 97 . Another seven-mile or so strech, SC 5 enters Blacksburg , where another merge is in order with US 29 . After a mile or so strech on US 29 (where it serves as the southern terminus for SC 98 ), SC 5 merges off and quickly goes over I-85 . WESTERN TERMINUS Just a mile north of I-85, SC 5 runs into SC 18 . Threre SC 5 ends. This is about a mile below the SC-NC State Line.
