GEOGRAPHY According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 61.2 Km&2 (23.6 Mi&2 ). 34.2 km&2 (13.2 mi&2) of it is land and 27.1 km&2 (10.4 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 44.20% water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 897 people, 410 households, and 277 families residing in the town. The Population Density was 26.3/km&2 (68.0/mi&2). There were 932 housing units at an average density of 27.3/km&2 (70.7/mi&2). The racial makeup of the town was 99.00% White , 0.00% African American , 0.11% Native American , 0.22% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.00% from Other Races , and 0.67% from two or more races. 0.45% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 410 households out of which 20.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.0% were Married Couples living together, 4.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 25.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.19 and the average family size was 2.58. In the town the population was spread out with 16.7% under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 18.8% from 25 to 44, 34.9% from 45 to 64, and 25.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 52 years. For every 100 females there were 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.6 males. The median income for a household in the town was $38,636, and the median income for a family was $46,765. Males had a median income of $31,696 versus $21,563 for females. The Per Capita Income for the town was $28,233. 7.5% of the population and 3.5% of families were below the Poverty Line . 6.0% of those under the age of 18 and 15.0% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line. |
