(''Baile Shláine'' in Irish ) is an ancient town on the River Boyne in County Meath , Ireland . A local historic site, the Hill of Slane, includes the ruins of Slane Abbey and the restored Slane Castle which in recent years has held many Pop Concert s – notably Bob Dylan , Bruce Springsteen , The Rolling Stones , U2, The Corrs , Madonna , Santana and many more.
In Irish Mythology , was a Well blessed by Dian Cecht so that the Tuatha Dé Danann could bathe in it and be healed.
The famous hymn "Be Thou My Vision" is set to an early medieval Irish tune popularly named "Slane."
