''Sherghati'' literally means 'the valley of lions', but for the known history of the place, it doesn't confirm to be an abode of lions. The name, as guessed by the people of the state, might have originated as an allegory to honour the brave-hearted people of the valley which is surrounded by rivers from its three sides. It is the location of one of the first discoveries of a Mars Meteorite , found in 1865. The Meteorite s with similar physical characteristics to this original one are called '' Shergottites ''. |
