Shane Kelly's specialty event is the men's 1000m time trial. In this event he won a silver medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics , a bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics , and came 4th at the 2004 Summer Olympics . He is probably best known for a mishap at the 1996 Summer Olympics . Going into the event, he was the world record holder and strong favourite. However his foot slipped from the pedal at the start, and he did not complete the race {Link without Title} . He also won gold in this event at the 1994 and 1998 Commonwealth Games . |
