As part of the U.S. Air Force's plan to establish Warfighting Headquarters (WFHQs), 7 AF will evolve into a Warfighting Headquarters for United States Forces Korea . HISTORY The Seventh Air Force evolved from the Hawaiian Air Force that was originally established to control a growing number of air units arriving in the Territory Of Hawaii in 1940 . Following World War II it was briefly a named command before inactivating. HQ USAF revived the Seventh Air Force to serve Pacific Air Forces during the Vietnam conflict when the growth of forces required a replacement for the 2nd Air Division. In this capacity 7AF was the air component Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV). In 1986, 7 AF was reactivated to replace the 314th Air Division in South Korea . ! VII FIGHTER COMMAND !
