GEOGRAPHY


Sand Point is located at 55°20'12" North, 160°29'36" West (55.336593, -160.493234).

According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 75.0 Km&2 (28.9 Mi&2 ). 20.2 km&2 (7.8 mi&2) of it is land and 54.8 km&2 (21.1 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 73.05% water.


DEMOGRAPHICS

As of the Census of 2000, there were 952 people, 229 households, and 155 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 47.1/km&2 (122.1/mi&2). There were 282 housing units at an average density of 14.0/km&2 (36.2/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 27.73% White , 1.47% Black or African American , 42.33% Native American , 23.21% Asian , 0.32% Pacific Islander , 2.21% from Other Races , and 2.73% from two or more races. 13.55% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 229 households out of which 39.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.4% were Married Couples living together, 15.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.9% were non-families. 25.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.17.

In the city the population was spread out with 20.4% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 41.5% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 3.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 165.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 181.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $55,417, and the median income for a family was $58,000. Males had a median income of $20,000 versus $22,500 for females. The Per Capita Income for the city was $21,954. 16.0% of the population and 10.3% of families were below the Poverty Line . 14.4% of those under the age of 18 and 32.1% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
